 Located in Kankakee County and 50 miles from Chicago's Loop, Manteno traces its roots back the daughter of Francois Bourbonnais Jr., whose name was adopted by the town. The town was incorporated in 1853, however the town was recognized as part of nearby Rockville. In 1855, the town succeeded in separating away from Rockville and became recognized as the Town of Manteno. Today, Manteno is a thriving community with over 8,000 residents and home to over one hundred years of history.
