Located in Kane and Kendall Counties, Montgomery is a dynamic community of over 15,000 residents. The area was settled in 1832 when Joseph Carpenter moved from Ohio to the area that would become Montgomery. The town's name stems from settler Daniel S. Grey who moved from Montgomery County, New York and acquired several plots of land from the federal government.
The town was actually called Graystown for a while until the name officially became Montgomery after Montgomery County, New York. Daniel Gray later went on to found a number of businesses that would help the community's economy including the Gray-Watkins Mill.
