 Located in Cook County, Illinois, Lansing was first settled in 1843 by the August Hildebrant family. Three years later in 1846, the Lansing family settled into the area. Shortly after, the city rapidly developed with the establishment of the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1856, telephone wires in 1911, electricity in 1912, and natural gas in 1927. Today, Lansing is home to over 25,000 residents.
