About JOLIET, Illinois.

The fourth largest city in Illinois, Joliet is located in Will and Kendall County. Established in 1833 along the side of the Des Plaines River, the city was laid out and planned as the city of Juliet; after historical founder James B. Campbell's daughter. In 1845, the name was changed from Juliet to Joliet and years later the city was reincorporated in 1852. Today, Joliet is a large and bustling community containing over 140,000 residents.
